My clients took this fine Georgian country house on needing complete renovation having not been updated for over 50 years. The beautifully proportioned entrance hall, with its original slate and english limestone flagstones was transformed from a dingy space that had been cluttered with seating and floor rugs and lit by one solitary lantern into an elegant, light space with classic detailing added in the marbling of the columns and the decoration of the cornicing.
The drawing room has an original fresco ceiling so we worked with the colours and details within it to develop a soft and inviting scheme that enabled the ceiling to become a focal point. The silk walls and soft creams combine to create a calm and relaxing environment where the views out to the lake can be enjoyed in all its glory.
The magnificent staircase with barley twist spindles was lovingly restored and a bespoke runner was made with beautiful stair rods to add a decorative touch. The Victorian ceiling was cleaned up, painted and LED lighting was installed to pick out the relief and add contrast.
Working with beautiful period detailing and mouldings we have created calm, yet classic bedrooms that set off the graceful Georgian architecture whilst meeting the needs of the family who use them.
