Entrance Hall and Staircase

The entrance hall and staircase show the softer, airier side of the scheme, with pale tones allowing the architectural detail and restored features of the townhouse to come forward.

Drawing Room

The drawing room and adjoining withdrawing room share the same rich blue wall colour, allowing the crisp white cornicing, dado rails, shutters and woodwork to stand out with elegant clarity. Reproduction fireplaces, installed with full permissions and crafted in statuary marble with richly veined Siena marble slips, create a striking focal point in each room. The drawing room is composed in a quieter palette of taupe and blue, anchored by a bespoke wool and silk rug.

Withdrawing Room

The withdrawing room introduces notes of burnt orange, cerise and pink for a more playful, intimate character, while continuing the rich blue wall colour and crisp architectural detailing of the adjoining drawing room.

study

The study continues the richer side of the scheme, using deep colour, restored architectural features and carefully chosen furniture to create a room with presence and intimacy.

Kitchen

Set within the basement, as it would traditionally have been, the kitchen opens onto the garden and is filled with natural light from a roof lantern above. This allowed us to work with a handsome palette of greys, dramatically veined Viscount White granite worktops and full-height splashbacks, offset by a black Aga. Colour is introduced through burnt orange bar stools and a lime green faux leather banquette, arranged around a generous ten-seater granite table designed for both everyday family life and our clients’ love of entertaining.

Principal Bedroom and Bathroom

In the principal bedroom and bathroom, muted pinks and warm greys create a calm and restful atmosphere. The owners’ love of sculpture adds a personal and elevated layer throughout, bringing individuality and refinement to each space.

A Bath Townhouse Of Light, Shade and Architectural Detail

The owners of this Grade I listed Georgian townhouse in Bath wanted to balance light and shade, introducing deep, enveloping colour in the principal living rooms while keeping the staircase, kitchen and bedrooms softer, calmer and more open.

The aim was to create a modern family home that celebrated the building’s original architecture, from elegant cornicing and fireplaces to restored floorboards, sash windows and working shutters, while ensuring the interiors felt practical, warm and beautifully lived-in.
